Wait for the Light

You guys, I’m super excited about December on the ol’ blog.

Why? Because we are going to have daily Advent devotionals written by some amazing folks. Some are dear friends. Others I know only through the blogosphere and their beautiful writing. I’ll write a few as well.

Each devotion will be short and focus on one verse of Scripture, so they’ll be perfect for early mornings, lunch breaks, or those ten minutes before you fall asleep at night.

The theme?

Waiting.

One of the hard and haunting things about Advent is that it’s an already-and-n0t-yet kind of thing. We know Jesus was born, but we also await his birth with anticipation. We know God’s kingdom will come and is coming and has come, but it’s also kind of a mess down here while we wait for its fulfillment.

We are all waiting. Waiting for the weekend, for the kids to grow up, for graduation, for a promotion, for peace at home, for peace in the world, for “the one” to come along, for the right moment, for the end.

What are you waiting for? Where is God in the waiting?

I’ll introduce you to each of the writers as they come. They are gems, and I can’t wait for you to meet them.

If you want to have these devotions sent to your email each day, you can subscribe in the right sidebar with your email address.

As you prepare for the holy season of Advent, what are you waiting for?
